Back to Back: Magnet Redesignation
Baptist Health is the first and only health system in North Florida to achieve Magnet recognition as a health system. Currently, only seven percent of the hospitals in the United States enjoy Magnet designation, which is considered the gold standard for recognizing quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice. Baptist Health first earned Magnet recognition in 2007 and was redesignated in 2012.
Best Hospital Rankings
Local consumers in greater Jacksonville named Baptist Health "Most Preferred Healthcare Provider" from 1990-2012, according to a nationally syndicated, annual consumer survey conducted by the National Research Corporation (NRC). Among quality measures, Baptist Medical Center scored the highest among local health care facilities for having the Best Nurses, Best Doctors, Best Reputation and Best Overall Quality.
Best Children's Hospitals
Wolfson Children's Hospital was named among U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals 2012-13. The hospital ranked among the top children's hospitals for: Diabetes & Endocrinology (third year in a row), Neurology & Neurosurgery (second year in a row), Urology (second year in a row), Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Cancer and Pulmonology.
Stroke Center Certification
The Stroke Centers at Baptist Jacksonville and Baptist South earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ for stroke care. The Joint Commission awarded Baptist Jacksonville and Baptist South with Primary Stroke Center Certification and Baptist South was recently named an American Stroke Association "Get With the Guidelines" Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award Hospital.
Chest Pain Center Certification
Each of our adult hospitals is an accredited Chest Pain Center by the international Society of Chest Pain Centers, indicating that our hospital emergency teams offer fast, evidence-based diagnosis and treatment of heart attacks within 70 minutes and perform a cardiac catheterization within 90 minutes of the patient's arrival. Being treated at an accredited Chest Pain Center can mean the difference between life and death for a patient experiencing a heart attack.
Patient-Centered Medical Home Accreditation
NCQA ’s Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) is an innovative program for improving primary care using a set of standards that organizes care around patients, working in teams and coordinating and tracking care over time. Many Baptist Primary Care practices have achieved the highest level of accreditation by the NCQA.
Innovative Use of Technology
Baptist Health’s CIO has been named among the "2012 Top 25 Healthcare CIOs" by InformationWeek recognizing us as one of the nation's first fully digital community hospital systems. Baptist Health also has been named to the "2011 Information Week 500" list of the nation's most innovative users of technology.
