Medical Laboratory Assistant, PRN/Various shifts, Baptist Jacksonville

Job Summary

Baptist Health is currently looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Collection and Accessioning department at Baptist Medical Center Downtown. This is a PRN Various Shift opportunity.

The Collection and Accessioning department is the section of the laboratory where specimens are received, sorted, entered into the Laboratory Information System, labelled with barcoded labels and processed.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant you will be responsible for: 

• Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties associated with the pre- and post-analytical handling of laboratory specimens and results.
• Communicates laboratory results and responds to specimen-related questions from physicians and various other caregivers.
• Collects blood specimens for routine and special laboratory procedures.
• Utilizes computer functions.

Experience

• Less than One year Phlebotomy Experience
• Specimen Processing Experience

License and Certification

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician Preferred
