The Software Asset Management Lead is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of software assets across the organization, ensuring compliance, optimizing costs, and supporting strategic IT initiatives. This role collaborates with procurement, finance, security, and IT operations to manage software licensing, entitlements, renewals, and audits.

The Software Asset Management Lead will be responsible for:
- Establishes and implements hardware and software acquisition, protection, maintenance and retention policies, standards and procedures that are aligned with IT standards and strategy. Investigates available hardware and software products; evaluates and recommends products based on user requirements.
- Coordinates with the procurement function to interview, select and negotiate with hardware and software vendors in order to purchase the appropriate equipment at the lowest cost.
- Reviews licenses and/or contracts to ensure that hardware and software equipment is covered by the contract and properly documented Requires working knowledge and experience in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.
- Continues to build knowledge of the organization processes and customers.
- Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies in analysing situations. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive software asset inventory using SAM tools and CMDB integrations.
- Monitor software usage and license compliance across all platforms (on-prem, cloud, SaaS).
- Lead vendor audits and ensure accurate reporting of entitlements and consumption.
- Partner with Procurement and Finance to manage renewals, true-ups, and cost optimization strategies.
- Implement policies and procedures for software acquisition, deployment, and retirement.
- Analyze software spend and usage trends to identify savings opportunities and reduce risk.
- Ensure alignment with cybersecurity and data governance standards.
- Support onboarding/offboarding processes by managing software provisioning and deprovisioning.
- Maintain documentation for software contracts, license keys, and support agreements.
- Provide regular reporting to leadership on software asset health, risks, and opportunities.

- Minimum 2 years of related experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or related field; certifications in SAM (e.g., ITIL, IAITAM) preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in IT asset management, software licensing, or procurement preferred
- Strong understanding of Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, and other major vendor licensing models preferred
- Experience with SAM tools (e.g., intune, ServiceNow) preferred
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
