Baptist Health and YMCA offer area employers program to improve health of their employees

Based on their combined experience and expertise in employee health and corporate wellness programs, Baptist Health and the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast have teamed up to help local employers enhance the health of their employees while also helping to increase productivity.
Baptist Health and the YMCA have developed a personalized, analytics-driven program called PATH – Personalized Approach to Health.
“PATH fills a need in the community by connecting employees to the local resources they need to improve their health and well-being, with a focus on helping people who are at greatest risk for preventable health issues such as obesity, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and stress,” said Hugh Greene, Baptist Health president and CEO.
National studies show that corporate health programs can benefit companies and employees through increased productivity, lower absentee rates, reduced health care costs and fewer Worker’s Compensation claims.
“The Y has a long and trusted legacy of advancing the health and well-being of the people we serve. Together with Baptist Health, we will deepen our efforts in supporting corporate wellness, helping even more adults and families in our communities who struggle to adopt and sustain healthy lifestyles,” Eric K. Mann, president and CEO of YMCA of Florida’s First Coast.
Working closely with employers and their benefit consultants, PATH consultants help design a customized, medically based program that includes data collection, employee education, aggregate risk analysis, strategy development and results tracking.
The PATH program is flexible, allowing companies to use all or some of the following components to build an employee health program that fits their budgets and objectives:
- Health risk assessment and biometric screening
- Health coaching and care coordination
- Evidence-based analytics
- Targeted solutions delivered at the individual level
Baptist Health provides medical expertise and the YMCA provides behavior modification expertise while both organizations provide convenient access to services that promote health. Whether a company is self-insured or fully insured, PATH is unique because it allows companies to have access to their own data, which may provide greater continuity of measurement year-over-year. While preserving the privacy of employees, PATH can provide the historical information companies need to address specific factors that can increase health care costs, reduce productivity and cause unnecessary illness.
