Baptist Medical Center Beaches has received the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience.
This distinction is the only award that identifies the nation’s best health care institutions measured against the needs and preferences of women, which provides women the opportunity to identify which hospitals deliver quality patient experience.
Being named and recognized as a hospital of choice among women represents the strongest and most important consumer message in today’s health care marketplace considering studies show that women account for 94 percent of all health care decisions for her and her family.
“We are so proud to receive national recognition for the care we deliver to our patients,” said Joe Mitrick, hospital president for Baptist Beaches. “Baptist Beaches’ team members routinely go above and beyond to be responsive to the needs of the patients and families who we serve. We have worked hard to implement recognized best practices to ensure a positive patient experience.”
The qualification process for America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience is unique in that it is the only national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction and recommendation scores. The process begins with scores derived by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for each hospital in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) database. The score takes a subset of the questions HCAHPS uses, and that research and experience shows are more important to women than to men. Weight is applied to each of those questions to adjust for relative importance and arrive at a numerical score.
Some areas of most importance to women in their health care experience include physician and nurse communications, receiving help when needed, noise level and cleanliness.
The 100 best scores in each of the four bed size categories determine the award winners.
“At the Women’s Choice Award, we’ve identified America’s Best Hospitals across the nation to help women make smart health care choices for themselves and their family members,” said Delia Passi, CEO and Founder of the Women’s Choice Award. “Being treated with the proper level of care impacts one’s health, well-being and healing so it is critical for women to know those hospitals that have demonstrated the highest level of quality care to their patients, with a special focus on the female experience,” added Passi.
This credential signifies Baptist Beaches’ commitment and passion towards an extraordinary health care experience for women and all patients, according to Women’s Choice Award. Each hospital that carries the award seal is generously contributing to the mission of empowering women and their families to make the best health care choices.
