PATH corporate health program continues to expand
November 3, 2015 | Jacksonville, FL
Less than a year after fully launching, the locally based PATH workplace wellness program has reached a milestone of more than 13,000 employees with access to its comprehensive approach to employee health.
PATH, or Personalized Approach to Health, was created by Baptist Health and YMCA of Florida's First Coast as a unique way to help local employers enhance the health of their employees. National studies show that corporate health programs can benefit companies and employees through increased productivity, lower absentee rates, reduced health care costs and fewer Worker’s Compensation claims.
Four new companies have been added to the PATH program since May 2015, including Flightstar Aircraft Services, iMethods, Northeast Florida Endocrine & Diabetes Associates and the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida. Other local employers who have chosen the PATH program since its inception include the Jacksonville Jaguars; Arizona Chemical Company; Ennis Pellum & Associates, CPAs; Gate Petroleum Company and Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition. Baptist Health and the Y also use the program for their own team members.
“The PATH program goes beyond screenings and risk assessments. It fills an important need in the community by connecting employees to local resources to improve their health and well-being,” said Hugh Greene, Baptist Health president and CEO.
Eric Mann, president and CEO of the YMCA of Florida's First Coast added, “Together with Baptist, we are focused on helping people throughout the five-county area we serve who are at greatest risk for preventable health issues such as obesity, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and stress.”
PATH enables companies to identify the risk factors specific to their employee population, and then personalize effective solutions for their employees. It uses tailored strategies to help employees make healthy changes, using the combined expertise of Baptist Health and the YMCA.
“We believe wellness is the greatest benefit that we can provide to our employee team and that PATH is the perfect partner to lead this effort,” said David Mayer, CEO at Northeast Florida Endocrine & Diabetes Associates.
Some of the custom onsite programs brought to employers have included individual goal-setting and motivation techniques; one-on-one nutrition consultations; health coaching sessions as well as presentations by clinical experts on key topics, such as the impact sleep has on overall health.
