Are you at increased risk of developing lung cancer?
We can help you find out. Through our partnership with Houston-based MD Anderson Cancer Center, our own Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center is participating in a Lung Cancer Early Detection study. Participants will include long-term, high-risk heavy smokers and former smokers. They will receive a low-dose CT scan that may detect the presence of lung cancer early, allowing them to start receiving treatment earlier.
Who can participate?
• Men and women who are 55 years or older and who smoked for 30 or more pack years (unless they quit smoking more than 15 years ago)
• Men and women who are 50 years or older and who smoked for 20 or more pack years, and have at least one other risk factor (e.g., contact with radon or asbestos, have had other lung diseases, or have a family history of lung cancer)
• Participants must be willing to answer some questions, provide blood samples and undergo a low-dose CT scan of the lungs

In the event of a #stroke, where you go for care matters.
All three of our free-standing emergency rooms - located at the St. Johns Town Center, Baptist North and Baptist Clay Medical Campus - are now certified as Acute Stroke Ready Centers by the Joint Commission.
These centers join Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center; and Baptist Medical Center Beaches and Baptist Medical Center South, certified Primary Stroke Centers; as part of our comprehensive stroke network created to ensure patients are never far from life-saving stroke expertise.
Not all hospitals or emergency departments are able to offer this level of care. So before a stroke strikes, know the signs and where to go: baptistjax.com/stroke.
Tag a loved one below as a way to celebrate those who have survived, to offer support to those recently diagnosed and to inspire families and friends. Together, we can #endcancerJAX.

Changing healthcare for good in our community is what Baptist Health is all about. Access, affordable care, and a lack of knowledge about services and dozens of other factors contributed to a wide range of health care needs among communities in northeast Florida. That is the conclusion of a newly released study commissioned by a group of local health care organizations. The Jacksonville Metropolitan Community Benefit Partnership, which includes Baptist Health and @wolfsonchildrens, recently released its second Community Health Needs Assessment. You can read Baptist and Wolfson's hospital-specific reports at the link in profile.

"Some days, my job can be stressful. But, when a patient hugs me and tells me how thankful she is that I was there for her, I remember why I became a nurse. Everyone who comes here is seen by a board-certified physician and nurse, like me, who really cares. I love reassuring my patients that they are in the right place..." __________________________________________
