Onesha Richards Biography and Information
Onesha Richards joined Baptist Health in 2019. She serves as chaplain for Women’s Health at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. Onesha is most passionate regarding her service to patients, families, colleagues, and team members. She defines her role as an opportunity to place an encounter in the hands of God to create, mold and facilitate an experience that will help others find peace.
Onesha’s career as a Chaplain began at UF Health Hospital of Jacksonville as a Trauma 1 Chaplain. It was in that capacity that she decided to pursue further education to include her Clinical Pastoral Education Residency at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and a Masters of Divinity from Liberty University specializing in Hospital Chaplaincy. During residency, she served as Chaplain in the Heart Hospital, Emergency Department and was provided additional opportunities to serve in Women’s Services, as well as Adult Surgical Services.
Onesha earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Bethune Cookman University and a Master of Elementary Education and an Education Specialist degree in School Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She served as an educator for 25 years in the public school system before her call to chaplaincy. Onesha is an ordained minister within the non-denominational faith tradition. She has served in this tradition for over 20 years.
Onesha enjoys reading, music and nature. She and her husband, Ernest, live in Jacksonville with their Pekingese named Spirit.
