Thomas Gough Biography and Information
Thomas Gough serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer (EVP and COO) for Baptist Health. He is responsible for advancing operational excellence, strengthening physician and community partnerships, and supporting Baptist Health's continued growth, innovation and commitment to exceptional patient care.
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Gough spent more than a decade at WakeMed Health & Hospitals in Raleigh, NC, serving in several senior leadership roles. As EVP and COO, he oversaw operations and strategy for the six-hospital health system, led major growth initiatives, expanded clinical services, and helped improve quality, patient safety, employee engagement and financial performance.
Before WakeMed, Gough held senior leadership positions with Care New England, Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.
Gough earned a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Science in Health Planning and Administration from Penn State University.
Gough serves on several health system, foundation and community boards focused on advancing health care quality, innovation and community well-being. A former Academic All-American in Track and Field at Penn State University, he has remained active in athletics and youth mentorship throughout his career.
