About Me

Before medical school, I attended the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., as a Naval officer, and served aboard US Navy ships. I have lived in Jacksonville on and off since the early 1980s and even met my wife, a Navy nurse, here. We have three wonderful children and actively participate in fundraising events, including running in the Donna Marathon to finish breast cancer every year.

I embrace a healthy lifestyle and encourage my patients to become more engaged in their care by making better health choices. I believe a good doctor listens carefully to his or her patients and presents the best evidence-based preventive care strategies for his patients to consider. Each choice I make for my patients is individualized, patient-centered and carefully considered.

I have been very fortunate to have grown up in a large and very close family with parents who survived the Great Depression and the Second World War. I spent 37 years in a uniform and have travelled widely and have seen much. I feel strongly about paying back my community after having had such great fortune.
