Job Summary

The Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) Manager will support and maintain specialized and internal HR systems, services, and applications used in the organization, while ensuring that all systems and data strategies are implemented using best practices. This role provides leadership, planning, and project coordination for the development of cost-effective initiatives across the organization. This role serves as a functional resource for the HRIS team, while providing training, coaching, and guidance on work completion. The HRIS Manager provides guidance to the HRIS Specialists regarding system usage, functionality, and optimization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new team members in the HRIS department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the HRIS department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for all HRIS Specialists.
  • Recommends development needs and opportunities for team members to ensure maximization of the HRIS team’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and maintains optimal function of the organization’s internal HRIS and other systems, which may include database management, network support, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrades to applications, systems, and modules.
  • Oversees and maintains internal database files, tables, codes, backup files, integrity, and security.
  • Installs, implements, modifies, and upgrades software and applications to meet changing business needs and technology improvements.
  • Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HRIS team members.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership and HR leadership to identify needed improvements and enhancements to existing information services and databases; recommends and implements solutions.
  • Manages permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HR users.
  • Programs custom functions and creates documentation such as automated queries, filters, macros, and reports.
  • Compiles or assists with acquisition of complex data reports requested by the senior leadership team and HR leadership.
  • Serves as lead representative and liaison between HR, Information Services, external vendors, and other stakeholders for HR database design and implementation of projects.
  • Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in data management and security, HR technology, and HRIS applications.
  • Partners with the HRIS Director to oversee the procurement of appropriate hardware and software to ensure that the organization has high quality and efficient systems.
  • Facilitates migration to a unified HRIS solution as required.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Education Required

Bachelor's Degree

Experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical support skills to collaborate at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to coach, guide, mentor and develop people.
  • Familiarity with human resource policies and procedures to ensure the HRIS meets organizational needs and goals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Thorough understanding of database build, workflows, and processes.
  • Thorough understanding of all areas of information systems with a highly technical understanding of an HCM solution, such as Workday, Oracle, and/or PeopleSoft.
  • At least five years of database management or related experience required with at least three years in a supervisory position.

License and Certification

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
