I was very disappointed that I called the office to make an appointment with my surgeon for a consultation for a revision rhinoplasty and the office failed to mention that he no longer performs these types of surgeries, and has not for the past year and a half. I do not live in Jacksonville any longer, so I traveled four hours (there an back - eight hours total) for this appointment to be told "sorry I cannot help you in any way." The lack of transparency was completely disappointing. I would not have scheduled the appointment if I was privy to this information. On top of that I am not receiving any form of compensation for the surgical error that resulted in me having to receive a revision to my rhinoplasty performed by this doctor. Lastly, the office billed my insurance for an "office visit for an existing patient" when this was specifically for a consultation (which I have never been billed for before). Additionally, no "services" were even performed as I traveled all the way to Jacksonville to be told I was basically out of luck and I will need to inquire with a plastic surgeon (and pay upwards of $5,000+) to revise the error of the ENT. Extremely disappointed in the investment I had made and would expect more transparency and accommodation.

Dr. Scharer is highly recommended. Great doctor. Only negative critique is the reception area is in dire need of a makeover with an up to date modern look. Furniture is old and worn, besides being uncomfortable to sit in. This by no means has nothing to do with the doctors care.

I was not excited about having to see an ENT. Everyone was professional and made me feel comfortable in new surroundings. Dr Scharer was very gentle and caring. He explained everything before performing the various procedures. Although I was nervous going in, Dr Scharer made me feel comfortable every step of the examination. He was informative and patient with my questions. I would definitely recommend Dr Scharer and his team to others.

I am so impressed by Dr. Scharer. He explains everything clearly and doesn't rush the patient. He asks and answers questions. One I waited in the waiting room for over an hour You sent me a text saying my appointment was for 10 and then when I get there told me it was a mistake it was for 11 My visit with the doctor once I got in was great hes very professional knowledge and I liked The discussion on what we were gonna do to fix my problem After that it goes bad again I've waited a week for the surgeon to contact me after finding out their own leave then it was handed over to their replacement I have now called everyday with no response I will try again today to see if I talk to someone This time before giving up and moving on to another practice And letting them do the surgery

I like the artwork, but the distance one has to walk from the new main entrance to the Weaver Tower is absurd??????it almost killed me. Most people who come to a hospital have health issues of varying degrees of issues/disabilities. If one must walk that far, why isn???t there a cadre of wheel chairs and volunteers to assist? When I arrived at 6:20 AM, there was no one there except a nonchalant, unfriendly ( only unfriendly person all day) young woman at the reception desk who couldn???t have cared less when I asked if it was far to the Weaver building. By the time I finally made it, I was exhausted and out of breath. I have several necessary surgeries coming soon??????I sure hope I never encounter this situation again!

Scheduling. I was told over the phone that my appointment would be set up for one day. I called back to confirm the time and was told nothing was set up. On that call, the young lady told me that she would put me in for the next day at 9:30. So, I came in the next day at 9 and was told that my appointment wasn???t until the 13th, 10 days later. Complete waste of my time and money. They set my appointment up for the 6th and I asked for an appointment reminder card. In case my appointment wasn???t scheduled again. Maybe a confirmation email or text should be sent at that time so the patient can be sure their appointment is actually scheduled.

Dr. Scharer at Baptist ENT is the most skilled, gentlest ENT After suffering for a couple of days from itching in the ear canal, it turned into the most painful EVER ache on a Thursday??? and, believe me, I have experience with aches! At that point, I still thought it would resolve itself, since I never had any problems with ears before. However, on Saturday, added to the increased pain, there was an additional, intermittent piercing pain as if caused by an electric drill. It reached from the tip of my head to my throat, down my neck to my shoulders. It was unbearable and I went to an Emergency Care Center. The physician there was afraid he couldn???t help me and felt I should seek help from a specialist, because the fiery red swelling, especially in one of the ears, was so bad he was afraid he might pierce my ear drum, and it wasn???t clear whether he was dealing with an infection or fungus, or both. My wonderful Primary doctor for the past approx. 30 years, Dr. Akra, helped secure an appointment with Dr. Scott Scharer of BMC ENT, who, though having a fully booked schedule that day, agreed to see me after his last patient at 4:40pm. As it turned out, he worked on my problem for more than an hour! He proved to be the most skilled, gentle and kind physician. His empathetic, reassuring mannerism, softly spoken explanations and instructions helped alleviate any apprehensions and fears I had facing the painful and risky procedures he performed. Yesterday (4 days later) I had my second appointment, during which he performed the procedures again. If the pain level had been a 12(more than max10!) when he saw me the first time, it is now down to 3, and I???m so grateful that he went way above and beyond, generously giving his time, and treating me outside his office hours (and the young lady at his front desk stayed the extra time, too!) I have to go for at least one more treatment and there maybe annual check-ups, and I can tell you - I will not trust anyone else to ever touch my Ears, Nose, Throat, except Dr. Scharer - he is the best!

Wait time was long, I understand that can fluctuate daily but I waited almost one hour for my appt. Otherwise the visit was great, the staff was very friendly and the doctor was apologetic for the wait time and very nice and helpful.

For starters everyone was professional and friendly. Dr Scott Scharer was awesome. He was courteous friendly professional explained everything in detail that he was gonna do from beginning to end. Loved his mannerism only great things to say about my visit!!!

The entire staff is so professional, courteous, pleasant and helpful! Every question I asked from the onset throughout the surgery and follow up was answered without hesitation. I very much appreciated the detail provided to me once the surgery was booked to identify the schedule for pre-op and surgery, the anticipated charges, phone numbers and charge codes to contact the other providers (anethesiologist, etc.). And Dr. Scharer - brilliant, compassionate, extraordinary in his explanations, gentle (scopes) and on-time. By far, the best experience I have had with a surgeon, staff and hospital.
