David "Brandon" Chapman, MD, MBA, FACS, CPE, joined Baptist Health in May 2024 as the vice president of medical affairs for Baptist Medical Center South. In this role, he focuses on the implementation of patient-centric, effective and streamlined clinical care, liaising between the administration and medical staff.

He also serves as the system executive for Research, responsible for the strategic vision, operational oversight and regulatory compliance of all research activities across Baptist Health, Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and other areas of the health system, to expand access to innovative treatments and cutting-edge trials for patients in the region.

Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Chapman served as the associate chief medical officer and executive medical director of perioperative medicine at Atrium Wake Forest Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, North Carolina, and the associate chief medical officer at Atrium Wake Forest High Point Medical Center in High Point, North Carolina.

Dr. Chapman is a board-certified otolaryngologist, a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) from the American Association for Physician Leadership, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomat on the American Board of Otolaryngology.

He received his Doctor of Medicine at East Carolina University's Brody School of Medicine and completed his residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Chapman received his Master of Business Administration from University of Massachusetts Amherst and his Bachelor of Science in biology from Wingate University.
