Matthew A. Zuino, MSIS, FACHE, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Baptist Health, Northeast Florida’s only locally headquartered and governed, faith-based, not-for-profit, mission-driven health care system. He has over 25 years of health care experience.

He most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Baptist Health. As COO, Zuino oversaw operations across hospitals, physician practices and ambulatory services, driving measurable gains in quality, access and financial sustainability. Zuino joined Baptist Health in 2017 as president of physician integration.

Prior to joining Baptist Health, Zuino spent 17 years at Virtua Health, South Jersey’s largest health system, where he held multiple senior leadership roles such as SVP and COO of Hospital Operations, VP and COO of Virtua Medical Group, Service Line Leader for Cardiovascular Services and Six Sigma Black Belt.

Zuino was recognized as a “COO to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review in 2024 and 2023. He was also recognized as an Emerging Leader in the first edition of the Best of Health Care list of South Jersey Business Magazine. Zuino previously served on the Board of the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, the Burlington Regional Chamber of Commerce as well as serving on local boards in the Jacksonville area. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of United Way of Northeast Florida.

Zuino earned his Master of Science in Information Systems from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt who is well-versed in the techniques and tools of process improvement. He completed the GE Administrative Executive Fellowship for Senior Executives from the Healthcare Management Academy and is board-certified in Health Care Management and a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
