Job Summary
The Director, Pediatric Critical Care Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for pediatric critical care programs at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Responsible for the 24/7 oversight of critical care operations, this leader ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care across multiple specialty areas, including the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), ECMO program, and other pediatric critical care services.
Leading a team of nursing leaders and multidisciplinary staff, the Director is accountable for fostering a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety, quality outcomes, and continuous improvement. This role develops and executes operational strategies that support organizational goals, optimize patient throughput, and enhance the patient and family experience. The Director oversees departmental performance, workforce planning, budget management, productivity, regulatory compliance, and quality initiatives while promoting staff engagement, professional development, and succession planning.
Serving as a key partner to physician and medical directors across pediatric critical care specialties, the Director collaborates closely with clinical and administrative leaders to advance program growth, implement evidence-based practices, and drive innovation in care delivery. This position plays an integral role in establishing standards of care, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, and supporting research, education, and performance improvement efforts that enhance outcomes for critically ill pediatric patients.
The Director provides leadership in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration, and champions a patient- and family-centered approach to care. Through effective communication, change management, and relationship-building, this leader cultivates an environment that supports excellence, accountability, and exceptional clinical outcomes.
Minimum Education and Certification Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Minimum Experience Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of critical care nursing experience required.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible clinical care experience required.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams, driving quality and performance improvement initiatives, and partnering with physicians and executive leaders preferred.
