Experienced health care executive and Jacksonville native, Mark R. LaBorde, joins Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville Board of Directors

Former Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Sales, Product and Marketing at Aetna Inc., Mark R. LaBorde, CEBS, recently joined the Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville Board of Directors. LaBorde, who retired from Aetna in May 2017, brings more than 30 years of health care management experience.

LaBorde’s focus was on simplifying Aetna’s commercial product portfolio, maximizing competitive channels in the marketplace and articulating a compelling value story to drive growth.

Prior to serving as SVP of Aetna Inc., LaBorde was the President, Southeast Region which included Alabama, Arkansas Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington, DC. He was instrumental in leading collaborative care arrangements with health care entities, coming together to improve efficiencies and qualities between the payer and provider.

A Jacksonville native, LaBorde has demonstrated his lifelong dedication to serving the Jacksonville community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Cathedral Arts Project and the Board of Trustees for Episcopal School of Jacksonville. He is a former member of The Brooks College of Health Dean’s Council at the University of North Florida and the Florida Health Insurance Advisory Board (FHIAB) chaired by the state insurance commissioner. He is also the past president of the Board of Directors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of North Florida.

LaBorde graduated from Emory University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing and Finance and holds a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He is married to Paige LaBorde, his wife of 30 years, and raised his two children in Jacksonville.
