Expert emergency care now expanded at Baptist North Medical Campus in northwest Jacksonville

Baptist Health adds 10 private rooms in new wing to the Baptist/Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center

Jacksonville, FL

Dedicated to meeting the emergency medical needs of the northwest Jacksonville community, Baptist Health completed a 4,100 square-foot expansion on its Baptist North Medical Campus. The new wing at the Baptist/Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center opened Monday, March 18, providing 10 new private rooms for adult patients to receive specialized emergency care.

The original emergency center opened on September 28, 2016, and houses two emergency centers under one roof – with a dedicated Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center on one side designed specifically for patients age 0 to 17. All Wolfson Children’s Emergency Centers are connected to the only full-service children’s hospital in the region and the only state-designated Pediatric Trauma Center in Northeast Florida.

“Since opening, we have seen exponential growth in the need for emergency services for both adults and children in the northwest Jacksonville area,” said Darin Roark, vice president of ambulatory campuses and system emergency departments at Baptist Health. “The new expansion will allow us to reduce wait times and continue to deliver the quality care people have come to expect when choosing Baptist for their emergency medical needs.”

The recent $5 million project also included a remodel of an existing 2,100 square feet of space. The emergency center, now with 26 exam rooms, offers the same 24/7 level of care found in a hospital-based emergency department, with a full complement of diagnostic services for both adult and pediatric emergency patients including a full-service laboratory, CT scanner, ultrasound, X-ray and emergency medical transport with an on-site ambulance and LifeFlight helipad.

In addition to emergency medical services, Baptist North Medical Campus serves the health and wellness needs of the entire family with innovative features including diagnostic imaging and lab services, primary care and specialist physician offices, a YMCA, Baptist Y Healthy Living Center and a quarter-mile paved walking trail.

Baptist/Wolfson Children's Emergency at North is located at 11250 Baptist Health Drive at the interchange of Dunn Avenue and I-295.
