Heart-warming gift of 1,000 red hats donated for babies born at Baptist Health during Heart Month

Babies born at Baptist Health won’t miss the chance to celebrate National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 1. In fact, the newest members of the world will be rocking red hats all month long.  

“The red hats are such a special way to symbolize heart health for everyone, both mom and baby,” said Tammy Daniel, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Baptist Health. “For the third year in a row, Baptist Health has partnered with the American Heart Association for this great program and we’re honored to distribute the tiny hats with a big purpose.”

The hats raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 killer of women, and congenital heart disease (CHD), the nation’s most common birth defect. More than 1,000 red baby caps, knitted by volunteers from across Northeast Florida, were donated to Baptist Health by the American Heart Association – First Coast chapter.

While the Little Hats, Big Hearts program unites hundreds of thousands of babies across the country, Baptist Health is the only hospital in northeast Florida offering this adorable reminder to new moms.
