Courtney Griffin Biography and Information

Courtney Griffin joined Baptist Health in 2018. She serves as an oncology chaplain at Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center. She provides spiritual care to patients, family, and staff in outpatient and inpatient settings, offering in-the-moment care to patients and families during difficult conversations with medical staff. Courtney works closely with the interdisciplinary teams, attending to the complex needs of cancer patients.

Courtney came to chaplaincy after 14 years of Air Force service. She earned a Master of Business Administration from Saint Leo University and a Master of Divinity from Regent University. Her first unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training was at Cape Fear Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina; she continued her CPE training as a Resident at Baptist Health Medical Center.

Courtney is ordained by the Rivers of Life Christian Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Before entering into chaplaincy, she was certified as an Outreach Minister by World Outreach Worship Center (Denbigh Church of God) in Newport News, Virginia, where she served as a youth Bible study leader for a Filipino outreach group.

Courtney enjoys working for a hospital system that cares about the whole person; caring for self is just as important as caring for others. In her free time, Courtney enjoys painting, poetry, and spending time in nature.
