Luke Ekstrom Biography and Information

Luke Ekstrom is an ACPE Certified Educator who trains both Chaplain Interns and Chaplain Residents at Baptist Medical Center South. Prior to joining the faculty at Baptist Health in 2025, Luke was the Manager of Spiritual Care and CPE at Penn Medicine Princeton Health in Princeton, NJ. Luke holds undergraduate degrees in Theology and Philosophy from Whitworth University. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary where his studies were focused on Pastoral Psychology and Psychoanalysis.

Luke is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and has extensive experience providing spiritual care in behavioral health, geriatric oncology and palliative care settings. Luke was responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of the spiritual care program at Penn Medicine Princeton Health's Cancer Center, which included inpatient and outpatient care, annual bereavement services, and separate support groups for patients and families.

Luke holds a deep love for Clinical Pastoral Education and he currently serves on the ACPE Research Committee. Luke enjoys utilizing research to enhance both clinical and educational practice, with a special interest in the educational development of supervisory candidates. When Luke is not at work, you may find him out on the golf course or volunteering at a local animal shelter.
