Tom Chappell Lewis Biography and Information

Tom Chappell Lewis began serving as Lead Chaplain for Baptist Medical Center Clay in August of 2023. He first joined the Baptist Health team as an intern in 2016 before serving as a resident and later staff chaplain at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Tom also served as a PRN Chaplain with UF Health of Jacksonville where he specialized in emergency medicine, trauma and team member support. He describes his passion for chaplaincy as “caring for people on their toughest days.”

Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Kenyon College and a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School, where he also served as a campus chaplain. Ordained in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in 2011, Tom served as a youth minister for 7 years before entering Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Tom also holds a certification in Mental Health First Aid.

Tom is originally from Memphis, TN. In his downtime, he enjoys playing guitar, creating art with post-it notes and spending time with his wife and daughter.
