An Internist who treats diseases of the lungs and airways. The pulmonologist diagnoses and treats cancer, pneumonia, pleurisy, asthma, occupational and environmental diseases, bronchitis, sleep disorders, emphysema and other complex disorders of the lungs.
Critical Care Specialist
An Internist who diagnoses, treats and supports patients with multiple organ dysfunction. This specialist may have administrative responsibilities for intensive care units and may also facilitate and coordinate patient care among the primary physician, the critical care staff and other specialists.
Hospitalists serve as the patient's primary care physician while they are in the hospital so their care is coordinated through one physician. We work very closely with the patient, his or her family, the patient's primary care physician and any other specialist who may be part of their treatment plan so everyone knows and understands what the care plan is.
