Job Summary
The Director of Benefits provides strategic and operational leadership for the administration of Baptist Health’s employee benefit programs. This role leads a team responsible for the day-to-day management, implementation, compliance, communication, reporting, and financial administration of all health and welfare benefit programs.
The Director will serve as a hands-on leader who is ready to roll up their sleeves and jump in where needed, ensuring benefit programs operate efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with federal and state regulations. This leader will also bring a forward-thinking and innovative approach, continuously evaluating opportunities to improve the employee benefits experience, streamline processes, and strengthen vendor partnerships.
Working closely with internal partners including HRIS, Legal, Finance, and Human Resources leadership, the Director ensures benefit programs align with organizational strategy, compliance requirements, and employee needs. This role is a key member of the Total Rewards leadership team and reports directly to the Vice President of Total Rewards.
Director, Benefits, Job Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the administration of Baptist Health’s health and welfare benefit programs.
- Lead and develop the benefits team responsible for program administration, reporting, invoicing, compliance, and employee communication.
- Ensure all benefit programs comply with federal, state, and regulatory requirements, including documentation and process adherence.
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver efficient, compliant, and employee-focused benefit programs.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the benefits function, identifying opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and the employee experience.
- Collaborate with HRIS and Finance teams to ensure accurate reporting, system functionality, and financial oversight of benefit programs.
- Provide thought leadership within the Total Rewards function, helping shape future benefits strategy and programs.
Experience Requirements:
- 7+ years of progressive benefits administration experience required
- 3–5 years of leadership or management experience required
- 3–5 years of healthcare industry experience required
- Demonstrated experience managing complex benefit programs and vendor relationships
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) Required
- Master’s Degree (MA/MS) Preferred
