Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, located in beautiful Northeast Florida, is actively seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic Interventional Pulmonology team.

Position Overview

The Advanced Practice Provider in the interventional pulmonology department plays a central role in the comprehensive evaluation and longitudinal management of patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures. This role includes work-up and risk stratification of patients requiring bronchoscopy and other interventional diagnostics, lung cancer screening and surveillance, smoking cessation counseling, and inpatient consultation. The APP provides pre- and post-procedural care, ensures continuity across inpatient and outpatient settings, and collaborates closely with interventional pulmonologists and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Outpatient Care:
    • Manage patients independently in clinic, including pre procedural, cancer surveillance, and urgent issues.
    • Perform outpatient procedures such as ultrasound-guided thoracentesis and chest tube removal.
    • Collaborate with RNs to triage post-procedural concerns and patient messages.
    • Complete clinic notes, orders, and referrals in a timely manner.
    • Participate in weekly tumor boards and work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Inpatient Responsibilities:
    • Evaluate and present new interventional pulmonology consults in coordination with the supervising physician.
  • Procedural:
    • Perform clinic and inpatient beside thoracentesis, chest tube placements and removals.
    • Complete preprocedural H&Ps, notes and orders as required.
    • Support interventional pulmonology procedures as needed.
  • Hours: Monday- Friday
  • Call: Some rotating night and weekend call responsibilities, including weekend rounding on the consultative service for interventional pulmonology, as well as home call coverage for the interventional pulmonology service.
