Job Summary

Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Oncology Data Specialist to join our remote team. In this part-time role, you will be responsible for accurately abstracting and managing clinical oncology data to support national cancer registry reporting. Your work will directly contribute to advancing cancer care and supporting key quality initiatives across our organization.

This is a fully remote position. Applicants must reside in one of the following states to be eligible:AL, FL, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, MI, NC, OH, OK, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WV, WY.

As an Oncology Data Specialist, your responsibilities include:

  • Accurately abstract and interpret clinical data from patient medical records to identify and record cancer diagnoses.

  • Track oncology patient data throughout the full course of care—from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up.

  • Input complete, high-quality data into national cancer registries and internal databases.

  • Maintain a consistent workflow of abstracting 5 cases per day (25 cases per week) from a provided suspense list.

  • Support quality management initiatives in collaboration with Baptist MD Anderson Oncology Leadership.

  • Utilize multiple data sources to ensure comprehensive and accurate patient case tracking.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain compliance with cancer reporting standards.

Education & Credential Requirements:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) Required
