Baptist Medical Center is currently looking to add a Speech Language Pathologist to our Acute Care Rehab Team at our Baptist South location. This full-time role offers 40 hours per week and includes participation in weekend / holiday coverage rotations. There may also be opportunities to pick up additional shifts during high census periods or to provide coverage for other therapists.

This Speech Language Pathologist must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA. While not required, at least one year of experience in an acute care setting is preferred. Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS) is also strongly preferred.

Speech Language Pathologist, Acute Care Rehab, Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates, diagnoses, develops and implements a treatment plan for patients of all diagnoses.
  • Provides care for patients who present with a variety of medical conditions/dysfunctions such as neurological (stroke, seizures, movement disorders, Guillain barre), respiratory, and general medical conditions which impact swallowing, speech, language or cognitive-communication skills.
  • Provides extensive patient/family education.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team care with other rehab professionals, nursing, physicians, dietitians, social services, respiratory, support staff, etc.
  • Works in a fast-paced setting requiring good time management, detailed documentation skills in the EMR, self-directed, and effective communication skills.

Education & Credential Requirements:

  • Master of Science Or Master of Arts Required
  • Licensed Speech Language Pathologist Required
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required from the American Heart Association Required
