Vice President, Operations, Primary Care, Baptist Medical Group

The Vice President of Primary Care serves as a senior executive leader responsible for the strategic direction, operational performance, and clinical excellence of Baptist Medical Group’s primary care network. In partnership with the Primary Care Medical Director (dyad model), this role provides oversight of physician practices, advanced practice providers, and clinical and administrative teams, ensuring alignment with the health system’s mission, vision, and values.

The Vice President will drive strategic growth, enhance patient experience, ensure financial sustainability, and strengthen workforce engagement across all primary care locations. This leader will champion quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with the Medical Director and serve as an executive sponsor for the implementation of new services, technology solutions, and operational improvement efforts across the enterprise.

Vice President, Operations, Primary Care, Baptist Medical Group Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide executive leadership for the clinical and business operations of Baptist Primary Care (outpatient) and specialty physician practices

  • Lead strategic growth and expansion initiatives, including development of new practice locations, physician recruitment and contract negotiation, and integration of community-based practices into the network

  • Partner with the Primary Care Medical Director to advance quality, patient experience, and population health outcomes

  • Champion system-wide initiatives, including new service lines, digital transformation, and operational excellence efforts in collaboration with Baptist Medical Group and Baptist Physician Enterprises

  • Ensure effective financial management, including oversight of revenue cycle operations and value-based care performance

  • Foster strong physician and provider relationships to support engagement, alignment, and performance

Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive healthcare management experience

  • 10+ years of physician relationship management and primary care leadership

  • 5+ years of experience in revenue cycle operations

  • 5+ years of experience in value-based care, population health, and accountable care models

  • Deep knowledge of healthcare regulations and primary care best practices

  • Exceptional leadership and team development capabilities

  • High level of technical and computer literacy

Education and Certification Requirements:

Required:

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Health Administration (MHA), or a related field

Preferred:

  • Doctorate degree (PhD, DHA, or related discipline)

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), or

  • Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) certification
