Baptist Health earns top national digital health recognition for improving the patient experience for the fourth consecutive year
The health system has once again been recognized by CHIME for its leadership in using technology to support more connected, patient-centered care.
Jacksonville, FL.
Baptist Health has once again earned Level 10 designation – the highest possible recognition – in both the acute and ambulatory categories of the annual “Digital Health Most Wired” survey conducted by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), a global network of IT professionals. The achievement reflects Baptist Health’s continued leadership in using technology to improve care delivery, support better outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
Only 6% (14 out of 235) of organizations that pursued CHIME’s prestigious Level 10 certification achieved the honor. This marks the fourth consecutive year Baptist Health has earned this recognition, placing the health system among an elite group of health care organizations recognized by CHIME for excellence in digital health.
“Technology is a catalyst for better care, helping us serve patients in new and more meaningful ways,” said Matthew A. Zuino, MSIS, FACHE, president and CEO of Baptist Health. “Earning this recognition for the fourth consecutive year demonstrates our continued commitment to excellence, innovation and the people we serve, while creating a more connected, accessible and patient-centered experience for those who trust us with their care.”
The annual survey evaluates how health care organizations use technology to improve care, safety, communication, access and the patient experience. Participants are ranked on a scale of one to 10, with Levels 9 and 10 reserved for organizations using digital tools in advanced and meaningful ways. This year’s survey included data from more than 45,000 care providers worldwide.
Baptist Health’s continued recognition by CHIME is driven, in part, by its use of user-friendly digital platforms that make care easier to access and navigate. Tools such as the My Baptist Chart patient portal and Baptist Access wayfinding app help patients manage their care, access personalized information and find their way around Baptist Health locations. The health system’s ongoing optimization of electronic health records and adoption of emerging technologies, including voice-driven artificial intelligence, further sets it apart from its peers.
“Innovation in health care IT is moving at an incredible pace, and our goal has always been to be at the forefront of this digital progress for our patients,” said Aaron Miri, DHA, FCHIME, CHCIO, executive vice president and chief digital and innovation officer at Baptist Health. “We are using technology to remove barriers, support our clinical staff and deliver more personalized care.”
Baptist Health has earned multiple honors for its leadership in using technology to enhance care, expand access and improve patient outcomes. Most recently, the health system became the first organization in the world to achieve Epic Gold Stars Level 10 in both Configuration and Usage – the highest level of recognition – for successfully implementing and using evidence-based capabilities. Baptist Health also was among the first health care systems in the U.S. to collaborate with Microsoft on voice-activated ambient listening technology designed to streamline charting for nurses, helping reduce time spent on manual documentation and allowing nurses to spend more quality time with patients.
