Maurice Appelbaum

Rabbi Maurice Appelbaum is an Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) Certified Educator and a Board Certified Chaplain. He serves as the ACPE Certified Educator for Jacksonville Baptist Health’s online CPE program. He is also the Chaplaincy Educator at Morristown Medical Center and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital. He serves as a commissioner on the ACPE Certification Commission.

Maurice received ordination from Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, a Modern Orthodox rabbinical school and served as rabbi of Congregation Ahavas Israel ~ The Greenpoint Shul in Brooklyn for ten years. He did his first CPE unit at Bellevue Hospital Center. His second unit was at Seafarer’s International House on the docks of Port Newark and Port Elizabeth through Lutheran Alliance. His third unit was at Veterans Administration St. Alban’s Extended Care Facility. His fourth unit was at NYU Langone Medical Center. Maurice did his supervisory training through HealthCare Chaplaincy Network, while working at New York Hospital Queens.

Maurice served as the director of CPE at HealthCare Chaplaincy Network, creating and directing its online CPE program, CPE.org and served as the Certified Educator at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and at Spiritual Health at Emory Healthcare’s online CPE program. He grew up in Brooklyn and lives with his family in New Jersey.
