Baby Care Basics Main Content

Your baby will soon be here and what an exciting journey ahead. This class is designed to help you with the most important job you will ever have, as First Time Parents! This class will teach you the practical and essential skills needed for your newborn during the first three months after birth. These skills include:

Expectant parents are encouraged to register for classes early, as space is limited.

  • All the basics of infant care from diapering and bathing
  • Practice safe swaddling/sleeping
  • Learn infant massage
  • Comfort Cues
  • Feeding tips
  • When to call the doctor

Class Format

Condensed Version - Virtual Setting
1 Saturday class, 4 hours 2 weeknight classes, 2 hours each (two consecutive weeks, same day each week)

Full Version - Classroom Setting
1 Saturday class, 6 hours 2 weeknight classes, 2.5 hours each (two consecutive weeks, same day each week)

Class Prerequisite

You do not have to be a Baptist Health patient to attend our classes.

Course Instructor

A Baptist Health educator teaches this class.

Class Registration

Registration and pre-payment is required to reserve your spot. Cost of this class includes 2 participants. You do not need to be a Y member to take this class.


Class Cancellation Policy

All virtual classes are non-refundable. If you paid a fee for the event and submitted a transfer request 72 hours or more prior to the start of the event, you can apply the class fee to another Baptist Health Maternity and Baby or Safety class. You may also request a refund if you paid for a classroom setting event. Please submit your cancellation instructions 72 hours or more prior to the start of the event via "Contact the Host" within Eventbrite.
