In our Neurocritical Care program, your loved one has access to:

  • Advanced medical technology and facilities, including our 24-bed closed-model Neurointensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) and neurosurgical operating suites

  • Telemedicine capabilities in each of Baptist’s hospital emergency departments to evaluate patients with neurocritical emergencies including acute stroke

Neurointensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) Tools

The Neurointensive Care Unit in the Weaver Tower at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville is dedicated solely to providing critical care for patients with neurological and neurosurgical issues.

Our Neuro ICU is a technologically sophisticated unit is equipped to provide continuous bedside monitoring of the nervous system, including:

  • EEG monitoring to detect abnormal brain activity such as non convulsive seizures and titration of medications for induced pharmacological coma
  • Near Infra Red Spectroscopy to measure Cerebral Oxygen saturation
  • Transcranial doppler to detect Cerebral vasospasm
  • Intracranial pressure monitoring to detect Intracranial Hypertension
  • PICCO (Pulse Contour Cardiac Output) and Flo Trac monitoring systems to measure Cardiac Index and Systemic Vascular Resistance for Titration of Vasoactive Medications Capability of performing Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Novel Advanced Mechanical Ventilator Strategies for care of Complex COVID patients
