24/7 Emergency OB Care When You Need It Most

At Baptist Health, we know babies are on their own schedule and an unexpected trip to the hospital could happen at any time of day or night. No matter what time you or your unborn baby may need care, Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Baptist Medical Center South have 24/7 obstetrical care provided by OB Hospitalist Group to ensure that an experienced OB/GYN will be immediately available to evaluate and treat you.

How OB Hospitalists Support Your Care

Stationed in the hospital 24/7, these highly skilled clinicians do not replace the care you receive from your regular OB/GYN physician. Instead, they serve as an extension of your regular doctor and the high-quality care they provide through the following:

  • Evaluating you for signs of labor and providing preliminary care while your doctor is en route
  • Deliver babies for those patients who do not have a doctor
  • Provide an extra set of hands with any emergencies or issues that arise

Please note: when you access care through the Emergency Center or the OBED, you will be cared for by emergency care specialists, and your visit will be billed as an emergency visit.

When to visit the Obstetric Emergency Department

Starting at 20 weeks’ gestation, you’ll have access to these services through the Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED) located within the Labor and Delivery Units of both Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Baptist Medical Center South any time you need to seek emergency obstetrical care.

If you are experiencing signs of labor and you need an evaluation, or you or your baby are experiencing any type of distress, proceed to the Labor and Delivery Registration desk to be admitted to the OBED.
