The Epic Professional Billing Application Analyst acts as a vital link between operations and information technology, ensuring Epic Professional Billing applications and workflows function seamlessly across the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes, professional billing operations, and technical systems supporting accurate and compliant billing. The analyst translates operational and business needs into effective system functionality, helping maintain system integrity, promote automation and efficiency, and improve the overall user experience.

A significant portion of the analyst’s day is devoted to resolving break fix issues, troubleshooting application functionality, and performing routine system maintenance. Responsibilities include investigating Professional Billing issues, applying and validating Epic quarterly updates, working with Epic technical support, testing system changes, and validating workflows to minimize disruptions to billing, claims, charge processing, payment posting, accounts receivable, and follow up activities. The analyst also supports workflows and applications that complement the professional billing process. Coordination and follow up for these responsibilities occur through structured communication channels, including email, Teams chat, and scheduled meetings.

Epic Professional Billing Application Analysts also collaborate extensively with cross functional teams across Information Technology, Revenue Cycle, Finance, and operational departments. Their day may begin with a team huddle, weekly group meeting, or focused Professional Billing session with their team lead. Throughout the day, analysts participate in meetings with operational leaders and end users to clarify requirements, identify workflow challenges, understand business needs, and develop effective Epic solutions.

As an Epic Professional Billing Application Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • This role ensures the operational effectiveness of enterprise applications, addressing user needs while assisting with incidents, updates, and upgrades to maintain system health.
  • Provide ongoing analysis and trouble-shooting support of application system components to meet needs and clinical/business requirements.
  • Perform applications testing and participates in integrated testing of current and newly released vendor functionality to ensure system reliability.
  • Contribute to updates, upgrades, and projects within and across applications and develops application specific solutions.
  • Provide 24/7 customer support for applications within accountability.
  • Ensuring the operational effectiveness and reliability of Epic Professional Billing applications while addressing user and operational needs.
  • Performing application testing and participating in integrated testing of current and newly released Epic functionality to ensure system reliability and appropriate workflow performance.
  • Contributing to Epic updates, upgrades, optimizations, and projects within and across applications while developing application specific solutions.
  • Partnering with Revenue Cycle, Finance, operational leaders, and other application teams to analyze requirements and translate business needs into effective Epic solutions.
  • Supporting and optimizing Professional Billing workflows, including charge capture, charge review, claims processing, payment and adjustment workflows, accounts receivable, follow up, and other related revenue cycle processes.
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of Professional Billing (PB) workflows within the Epic environment.
  • Utilizing Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams and Excel, to support communication, documentation, analysis, and operational activities.
  • Mapping and documenting current and future state workflows using tools such as Visio.
  • Applying knowledge of professional billing, financial processes, reimbursement, and revenue cycle operations to application design and support.

Experience:

  • 2 years of Clinical or Business Applications and Systems experience, including design, build, integration, activation, or application support required.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience required.
  • Strong understanding of Professional Billing (PB) workflows within the Epic environment preferred
  • Experience with Epic optimization, application maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements preferred.
  • Experience with Epic Professional Billing build, configuration, testing, and support preferred.
  • Additional Epic certifications or experience related to Charge Router and PB Claims preferred.

Education/Degree and Certifications:

  • Required:High School Diploma
  • Preferred:Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (BA/BS)
