Histotechnologist, Anatomic Pathology Laboratory, Baptist Downtown

Baptist Medical Center is currently looking for an experienced Histotechnologist to join our Histology Lab at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. This is a full-time day shift.

This candidate will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by turning tissue samples into microscope slides based on the Pathologist's need and orders. This Histotechnologist needs to have strong fine motor skills and be incredibly detail oriented. This candidate must have comprehensive knowledge within a Histology lab and at least 3-4 years of experience working in either a research or histology lab. Medical Technology experience is also required. This candidate must be licensed or be able to obtain a license as a Histotechnologist in the State of Florida before hire.

As a Histotechnologist, you will be responsible for:

• Performing all technical aspects of Histology including embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains

• Maintenance of all equipment - tissue processors, microtomes, cryostats, automated stainers, and coverslipper.

• Filing of slides and blocks

• Knowledge of LIS functions for accessioning and reporting

• Handling all specimens knowledgeably by consulting with the pathologist

Histotechnologist Experience:

• 1-2 years Experience in a Histology Lab

• Research Lab Experience

• Medical Technology Experience

Histotechnologist Education:

• Associate's Degree Required

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Histotechnologist Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Histotechnician (HT) Preferred

• Certified Medical Technologist (MT) Preferred

• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Preferred

• Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) Preferred

• Licensed Histotechnologist Required
