Job Summary

Baptist Medical Center is looking to add a Licensed Practical Nurse in our Infusion Center at Baptist MD Anderson. This is a full-time day shift opportunity. Once training is complete, the work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

As an LPN in our oncology port lab, you’ll play a vital role in preparing patients for their infusion treatments. Your day will include accessing and maintaining ports, drawing labs, and ensuring patients are ready for safe and timely care. You’ll work closely with nurses, physicians, and the infusion team, providing compassionate support while helping streamline the patient experience in a fast-paced oncology clinic.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for:

  • The LPN provides patient care and education.
  • Obtains vital signs, administers medication, performs lab work, records chief complaints and patient status.
  • Label, process, and prepare specimens for transport to the lab, ensuring proper handling and documentation.

  • Monitor and assess patients before, during, and after lab procedures or port access.

  • Access and de-access implanted ports following sterile technique and facility protocols.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and lab personnel to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic results.

  • Monitor inventory and restock lab supplies as needed.
