Job Summary
Baptist Health is looking to add a experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our outpatient draw station, working at Baptist Medical Center South. This is a PRN opportunity, working various shifts.
This candidate will be responsible for collection of blood and bodily fluids from children and adults. This candidate will be utilizing computer systems in the processing of laboratory specimens and retrieving specimens from a pneumatic tube system and processing specimens according to specimen type. This candidate will distribute specimens to different areas of the laboratory and coordinate specimen pick-ups for referral testing. This candidate will also prepare specimen transfer lists and package specimens in accordance with laboratory policy for transport, as well as troubleshooting any specimen issues. This Medical Laboratory Assistant must be able to work independently sucessfully.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Performing a variety of clerical and technical duties associated with the pre- and post-analytical handling of laboratory specimens and results.
- Communicating laboratory results and responding to specimen-related questions from physicians and various other caregivers.
- Collecting blood specimens for routine and special laboratory procedures.
- Utilizing computer functions.

- 3-5 Years Phlebotomy Experience
