Job Summary
Baptist Health is actively seeking a compassionate and experienced Medical Social Worker II (MSW) to join our Pediatric Social Services team at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a part-time clinical social work opportunity supporting high-acuity pediatric patients and families. Wolfson Children’s Hospital – A nationally recognized, full-service pediatric hospital located in Jacksonville, FL, and part of the Baptist Health System, a leader in compassionate, high-quality healthcare in Northeast Florida. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, your primary goal is to enhance the patient care experience and improve health outcomes by addressing psychosocial needs, reducing hospital readmissions, and collaborating with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary medical teams.
Work Schedule:
3 days/week – Preferred shifts: Monday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Friday (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Alternative shift options: Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
Rotating Sunday shift every 10–12 weeks
Patient Care Units Covered:
Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU; 6–8 beds)
Pediatric Dialysis Unit (10 beds)
Labor & Delivery Consultations
As a Social Worker in our Pediatric Social Services department, you will be responsible for:
Conduct advanced psychosocial assessmentsEmergency Department (ED) and care planning for high-risk pediatric patients in the and inpatient units
Serve as a liaison between families, physicians, nurses, and ancillary services to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care
Utilize evidence-based utilization review criteria for efficient patient admissions, discharges, and transitions of care
Provide crisis intervention, support services, and community resource coordination
Advocate for patients and families while ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and ethical standards in pediatric social work
Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or pediatric setting strongly preferred
Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and care coordination skills
