Job Summary
Baptist Health is looking to add a Registered Nurse to our Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) at our Baptist Jacksonville location. This is a PRN opportunity. This role requires call with a 40-minute response time and qualifies for competitive call and differential pay.
The nurse in this role will work as part of the surgical services and operating room teams that treat cardiovascular patients. The individual will assist with patient care, ensure that sterile procedures are followed during surgery, take stock of necessary equipment and medications are needed by the operating room team, and that the patient’s safety and well-being is advocated for.
The CVOR nurse will be responsible for the care of cardiovascular patients before, during, and following surgical procedures. The CVOR nurse will participate in the sedation of patients and assist physicians during the procedure by administering medications, monitoring vital signs and applying dressings. The CVOR nurse coordinates the entire operating room with respect to sterility, cleanliness and availability of functioning equipment and supplies, as well as provides critical quality control to ensure the patient's safety.
As an RN in the CVOR Unit, you will be responsible for:
- Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process
- Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services
- Including patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care
- Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care
- Coordinating and preparing assigned operating room/case
- Assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case
- Circulating, scrubbing, assisting on Cardiothoracic and vascular procedures
- Providing care to patients requiring immediate treatment of any medical, surgical, or other condition, including chronic medical and minor injuries or illnesses

- 1-2 years Operating Room Experience
