Job Summary
Baptist Health is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at our Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville location. This is a Part-time Weekend Days position. This Registered Nurse position has a call requirement, and it is self-scheduled based on department needs and will require a 40-minute call response time. This role qualifies for competitive differentials and additional call compensation.
As a Registered Nurse in the PACU, your daily responsibilities will include monitoring post-operative patients' levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia. This position also requires treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia and administering medication a prescribed. To ensure a smooth recovery, an RN in this position will also regularly check vital signs to quickly interrupt any potential issues. Educating patients and their families on post-surgery care as well as updating charts, patient files, and medical records will be an important aspect of this role.
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the PACU your responsibilities will include:
- Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement organization.
- Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services.
- Including patients and significant other (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care.
- Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care
- Coordination and preparation of assigned room/case, assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case.
- This position requires call rotation.

Education Required
Associate's Degree - Nursing
Education Preferred
Bachelor's Degree - Nursing
Experience
- 2-3 years Surgical Services Experience
- 2-3 years Critical Care Nursing Experience
License and Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred
- Conscious Sedation Certification Preferred
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) Preferred Or
- Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Preferred Or
- Licensed Registered Nurse Required
