Baptist Nassau opens new Cardiac Rehabilitation Center

Jacksonville, FL

Nassau County residents recovering from a cardiac event can get the services they need at Baptist Medical Center Nassau with the opening of the new Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.

Located on the main hospital campus in Medical Office Building B, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center is a 2,600-square-foot center with an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment for heart patients to regain their health. Baptist Nassau's physical, occupational and speech therapists are also housed at the new center so that all outpatient rehabilitation services are available under one roof.

Baptist Nassau's cardiac rehabilitation program is conducted in a group setting of up to six patients. During each supervised session, patients' heart rate, blood pressure and EKG are continuously monitored. Patients are re-assessed at each session for signs and symptoms of cardiac issues as well as medication compliance.

Education is a large part of the cardiac rehab program. Patients are educated on their personal risk factors for heart disease and dealing with the emotional ups and downs of recovery. Physicians, dietitians, nurses and clinical exercise physiologists all work together to provide an individual treatment plan for each patient.

"Patients in Nassau County no longer have to travel out of town to get high-quality cardiac rehab services," said Hospital President Stephen Lee. "Providing this service close to home will hopefully help ease patients' recovery."
