Baptist Health is currently looking for a Medical Technologist Specialist to join our Laboratory Services department at Baptist Downtown. This is a Full-Time Evenings opportunity, with rotating weekends.

As a Medical Technologist Specialist you will be responsible for:

  • Maintain expertise and perform technical, specimen collection/processing, LIS, general department, and clerical functions in one or more laboratory sections
  • Will perform duties of a Medical Technologist, in addition to being technically responsible for key areas of the BMC Laboratory.
  • These responsibilities include: oversight and review of quality control, analyzer maintenance and troubleshooting, technical procedure writing, quality improvement initiatives, and knowledge/adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Technical specialist will assist with ensuring that quality assurance and quality control has been performed that meets CAP and Joint Commission regulations.
  • Will assist with Point of Care and CAP Proficiencies.
  • Maintain records of performance as defined in the laboratory's general and sectional policy and procedure manuals
  • Maintain records of performance as defined in the SOP manuals.
  • May instruct new employees and students.
  • Supervised by Director and Section Supervisors, however, can perform all responsibilities of this job description without on-site supervision

  • 3-5 Years Experience in specialty area
  • System Laboratory Experience
  • Supervisory Experience

License and Certification

  • Registered Medical Technologist Required
  • Certified Medical Technologist (MT) Preferred
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Preferred
  • Licensed Medical Technologist Required
