About Me

Sara Barnwell seizes every opportunity to be an ambassador of Baptist Health and Baptist Beaches, and clearly views herself as a servant leader. In staff ori- entations she reinforces our mission and values. In coordinating the New Hire Support Group, she asks new nurses to critically consider how they can demonstrate caring to patients and families in all their interactions.

When a task requires the utmost care, Barnwell, who joined Baptist in 1999, comes to mind. She is always ready to step up and say, “I can do it!” and takes the initiative to ask, “What can I do to help you?” When a co-worker was receiving chemotherapy, Barnwell came to her home to help educate her husband on how to administer IV medica- tion. Whenever Barnwell walks the halls of Baptist Beaches, nurses greet her warmly and thank her for her encouragement and assistance.

Barnwell is a member of the Baptist Beaches Service Excellence Educa- tion Committee and assists with Open Forums and Leadership Work- shops. She also serves on the System Preceptor Committee, where she serves as a go-to person when help is needed, and Barnwell also is completing her Master of Nursing Education degree.

She brings that same enthusiasm to our community, including involvement in Beaches United Methodist Church, multiple runs in the Gate River Run, and the 26.2 with Donna. As the parents of a young daughter, she and her husband are committed to providing assistance to other families with small children.
