Image Guided Radiosurgery
Image Guided Radiosurgery Main Content
We offer advanced technology for image-guided radiosurgery that quickly delivers precise, high-energy radiation to tumors once considered untreatable because they cannot be reached through traditional surgery. Our stereotactic radiation therapy system helps radiation oncologists deliver fast, precise, noninvasive treatment for cancers and other conditions of the brain, head, neck, and body, including prostate and lung cancer.
Advantages
- Surrounding healthy tissue is left intact
- Treatment is fast (20 minutes or less)
- Treatment is painless
- Treats hard-to-reach tumors
- Treatment usually is performed as an outpatient procedure
How it Works
Precise
A quick dose of high-energy radiation precisely targets and destroys tumors. The radiation beam is matched to the exact contour of the tumor or lesion. This helps ensure the maximum prescribed dose of high energy radiation is delivered to the entire tumor, but only to the tumor.
Frameless
There is no frame holding the patient in place, unlike other radiosurgery systems, so treatment is comfortable. During treatment, the system continuously monitors small patient movements and automatically adjusts the beam to stay on target.
Fast
Treatment may take place in a single day. Your doctor will decide if your treatment should be administered in a single dose or in a series of doses.
