Specialized treatments for female pelvic floor conditions

Did you know that half of all women have never talked to their doctor about the management or treatment of a pelvic floor health condition they are experiencing?

Pelvic conditions are very common during and after childbirth, throughout the female lifespan, and during and after menopause. However, pelvic conditions do not have to be the new normal.

Urogynecology is a specialty within obstetrics and gynecology that focuses on conditions affecting the pelvic floor—the muscles and tissues that support the bladder, uterus and bowel.

These conditions can include:

  • Bladder leakage (urinary incontinence)
  • Overactive bladder
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Bowel control issues and constipation

A urogynecology specialist can help you understand your symptoms and walk you through both non-surgical and surgical treatment options to improve your comfort and quality of life.

Women’s Physical Therapy

Baptist Rehabilitation offers a Women’s Health Program to help alleviate pelvic discomfort. Physical therapists who specialize in women’s health provide conservative, non-surgical options to address issues like:

  • Urinary incontinence caused by weak pelvic floor muscles
  • Pelvic pain syndrome
  • Pregnancy related and postpartum low back pain
  • Sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction

Total Control©

Total Control© is Baptist Health’s medically-based exercise program designed to help women strengthen the core muscles that are essential for bladder control and quality of life. Created by experts in the fields of urogynecology and physical therapy, this combination of classroom instruction and exercise helps you learn how to strengthen your core, improve posture and alleviate incontinence.
