Breastfeeding 101 Additional Content Section 1
Virtual Class
This condensed version of our class takes place virtually on your computer, tablet or smartphone.
We offer two options:
- 1 Saturday session, 1.5 hours
- 1 weeknight session, 1.5 hours
In this condensed virtual class an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant or Certified Lactation Counselor will teach you the most important evidence based concepts needed to get breastfeeding off to the best start. There will be plenty of time at the end of class to ask questions.
Topics include:
- how breastfeeding works
- proper latch and position
- how long and how often to feed
- baby's feeding cues
- signs that baby is getting enough
- breast care and comfort
Breastfeeding 101 Additional Content Section 2
In-Person Class
This full-version class is lead by an instructor in a classroom.
We offer two options:
- 1 Saturday session, 2.5 hours
- 1 weeknight session, 2.5 hours
Our certified lactation counselors or IBCLC’s will teach you the evidence based up to date information on how to get breastfeeding off to the very best start! We’ll begin by discussing the health benefits for mother and baby.
Other topics include:
- how breastfeeding works
- proper latch and position
- how long and how often to feed
- baby's feeding cues
- signs that baby is getting enough
- breast care and comfort
- storage of breastmilk
- breastfeeding for working moms
There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. Since family support is so important, we strongly encourage dad, grandmother or another support person to attend at no additional charge. A breastfeeding book will be given to you. This course is taught by a Certified Lactation Counselor or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant

Class Refund Policy
In-Person Classes
To accommodate others who wish to attend this class we ask that all cancellations be submitted at least 72 hours prior to the start of the class. If you paid a fee for the event and you submitted the cancellation notice 72 hours or more to the start of the event you can either apply the class fee to another Baptist Health event or request a refund. Please submit your cancellation instructions here via Contact the Host.
Virtual Classes
All Virtual Classes are Non-Refundable. If you paid a fee for the event and submitted a transfer request 72 hrs or more prior to the start of the event, you can apply the class fee to another Baptist Health Maternity, Baby or Safety class.
