Baptist Health’s Amy Rosa named among The Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT

Jacksonville, FL

Baptist Health Chief Nursing Information Officer Amy Rosa, DNP, MSMI, RN, was named one of The Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT by Health Data Management. The list includes 75 women from health care organizations throughout the country.

Dr. Rosa oversees a 50-person nurse informatics team at Baptist Health, which provides clinical informatics expertise to the health system’s five hospitals, 43 primary care offices, four outpatient facilities, home health services and ambulatory care coordination. Dr. Rosa and her team help clinicians use health information technology to improve patient outcomes.

Under Dr. Rosa’s leadership, informatics has become a well-developed discipline at Baptist Health, helping to ensure that clinicians have the right information at the right time to make the best decisions for patients.

"Developing expertise in informatics requires an experienced nurse and professional like Dr. Rosa who not only understands the link between information technology and patient care, but can also work with IT professionals to take data from electronic medical records and use it in a way that is useful for clinicians and beneficial for patients," said Baptist Health Chief Nursing Officer Diane Raines.

"Being a nurse means you are a patient advocate at all times, and caring for patients is our business," said Dr. Rosa. "Being a nurse in information technology means my provider colleagues have confidence that I know what they endure in terms of integrating technology into their practice. In this ever-changing world of health information technology, we have to be researchers, innovators and collaborators."
