We relocated from the north 2 years ago and were very lucky to find this office. The doctors are caring, listen to our questions and take their time explaining all the necessary information. Appointments are easy to schedule at our convenience.

When I went in for my appointment, I was a brand new patient. The nurse took my vitals including my blood sugar levels and A1C. She did not tell me what they were so I thought the doctor would when he came in. When he did come in, he gave me some pamphlets on different diabetic supplies, asked about my period and if I was pregnant, then asked if there was anything else. When I asked if I could know what my A1C was, he acted surprised and told me but did not clarify beyond that. My blood sugar level was 415, and he acted surprised about it as well even though he did not even look at it before I asked. He asked if I needed water, and I said no because I wanted to leave at that point. While I understand the business of a doctor's schedule, I thought there would be more to a brand new patient appointment than there was. The appointment in itself was disappointing in the dismissiveness of the doctor and nurse and lack of care in my diabetic health beyond trying to push diabetic products at me

Thank you for asking. He is a good doctor who is perhaps stuck with a bad system. I am new to Florida. I drove some 20 miles risking a sun stroke to keep my appt. I took the blood tests the day after they were ordered, which was my appt day. When results became available the same day, instead of reviewing and/or revising my current dosages; and instead of asking me if or telling me that i needed new prescriptions, his office called to say that i should setup another in person appt with his assistant. A virtual visit wasnt offered. Which meant i was going to be on incorrect meds or inaccurate dosages of critical meds till i met his asst. I told his office i cannot manage another drive. Besides, i am juggling at least six doctors, their blood test results, and their return visits. I have been getting tested for 35 yrs. I know what my endocrin results mean. My nephrologist with St Vincent reviewed the nephrology results and revised my dosages in one day. Their patient portal is very responsive. His staff is only a phone call away. I am never cutoff from my doctor. The Baptist portal on the other hand wont even let me send him a message which he said is the only way he prefers to communicate. His office takesa very long time if i get connected at all. He would not order recurring tests which are necessary. That made him seem insecure and unsure if his patients will return. Imagine having an emergency. I have a return visit scheduled for Nov. Hopefully it wont be too hot for me to drive. Am trying to become a Connexion candidate. If i dont get approved, then, i will have to rethink on how to make my doctor appts.

It would be nice if when a message is left in the message mailbox, it was returned. Have left 4 messages (appointments and for Dr's Assistant) and calls we never returned. Otherwise, all other areas were fine.

Everyone I've had contact with in this office has been noticeably kind and helpful. This includes all my phone interactions, and when in person for my scheduled appointment with Dr. Cleland. This means a lot to me; because too often medical office personnel seem to forget who and why they are there: to serve patients, not themselves.

I have complete confidence being treated by Dr. Cleland. He listened carefully and took the time to understand my symptoms. He did comprehensive testing in order to arrive at a diagnosis. Other doctors I have seen about my symptoms seem to do the minimal required and then just gave up.

Having been a Type 1 Diabetic for 37 years, I am very impressed by Dr. Cleland. He does an excellent job keeping me up to date and always gives advice on what I can do better. I give him 5+STARS. I know of no better Endocronologist in the Jacksonville area. He is the BEST!

It took 3+ months to get an initial appt and the doctor ordered a bunch of testing. I specifically asked if I would have to wait another 3-4 months to get and appt to go over the results and was told I would get in much sooner than that. When I called (and waited over 30 min to talk to someone) I was given an appt 4 MONTHS later. This is unacceptable. After a portal message to the doctor I did receive a call back from the nurse who was able to give me a preliminary update on all the test results and was able to book an appointment for 2 weeks out.

It is very well run. There aren???t many people in the waiting area, all are called shortly after they arrive (at least in my 2 visits). I very much appreciated seeing Dr Cleland at my first visit, as well as his nurse (ARNP? PA?) who put me at ease. Dr Cleland explained things clearly. At my return visit after my labs came in, I went to the wrong building and run pretty late, but they were still able to work me in. I met Tabitha, PA - I think. She was also very clear about my results and what needed to be done.

I am currently, since May 17th, dealing with a severely blocked ear, with occasional loss of hearing, occasional ringing, pressure and dizziness. I called many times and I was unable to reach anyone by phone, so I left a voicemail. It was never returned. Because I needed an appointment right away, I drove from Saint Augustine up to the office to speak to someone in person and make an appointment that way. I was told I wouldn't be able to be seen until July 6. Seriously?? Are you kidding me?? I cannot continue to live with this ear issue for another 6-7 weeks. I will be looking for a new ENT office. This one sucks. I am finding that most doctors/practices associated with Baptist system cannot accommodate patients, and that all are booked up 3 months in advance. So why bother? I may as well simply use an urgent care walk-in facility or the ER in order to be seen.

I have PTSD??? disabled vet ??? Vietnam war Army nurse: I was greatly triggered by my appointment??? had no idea where I was going??? didn???t realize there was a parking garage???no signs pointing to elevators???didn???t realize there were 2??? told to go to wrong building ??? no signs directing to office??? office ok & Dr. ok albeit extremely brief & dismissive??? ordered labs & ultrasound to be done there??? went to lab they refused to see me as they don???t accept VA patients??? asked for them to call my Dr. .. refused??? referred me to Quest???at this point I was really triggered & instead of yelling which I wanted to do I gave her both of my orders for lab & ultrasound to cancel which of course she wouldn???t & I left & went to my car & cried! Then I tried to call Endocrinology but of course since I didn???t know the extension just got sucked into a robo rotation of endless #???s??? so I just left??? totally upset & exhausted from the whole ordeal!! I plan on calling community care with the VA but have not as yet had a good time to do so. This is why I would not recommend Baptist South Endocrinology.

I really like Dr. Cleland. I also like his helper----Flutura (Fluty). They are both very professional and attempt to make the annual visit streamlined. What I don't like----is how difficult it is to reach a living person when I call the practice. Extreme recordings to navigate, and long wait times before anyone answers. This happened on my last visit as I was having trouble finding the location in the building since the move. I was literally on hold on the phone for 15 minutes. After finally finding the location without phone help, NO ONE in the office was actually talking on the phone. Everyone I saw was talking to coworkers about their weekend. Not acceptable. Answer the phone when it rings.

More important, Dr. Clellan gave me confidence in his expertise and was generous with his time in going over facts and considerations about my condition. I am accustomed to physicians sweeping into the exam room for 3 minutes, spending most of the time typing on the computer and asking questions that reveal no connection to previous visits or the answers given a few minutes before to an assistant. Dr. Clellan and Dr. Annabelle Lee have been refreshing exceptions to the norm of cursory "care." If they are representative of Baptist overall, you will become my preferred provider for any specialized care.

I was VERY IMPRESSED with my first appointment with Dr. Cleland. I have recently transferred from another local hospital system due to the inability to treat a patient like a person and NOT a number or just another patient, and make the patient feel their worth more than a 15 minute visit. Dr. Cleland was what EVERY doctor should be....personable, a GREAT listener, and can bring the conversation down to a level which the patient understands what is being said and NOT overwhelming the patient with a vocabulary that only HE knows. Healthcare IS a two way street....and unfortunately the patient is the one that will always be lagging. I wad VERY IMPRESSED and GRATEFUL with Dr. Cleland's approach to me as a patient and validating my reasons for leaving another healthcare provider and joining Baptist Health.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto???s disease after various tests ordered by the ENT doctor who then suggested I see an endocrinologist. After 4 months to see the endocrinologist I was left hanging and confused. Upon checking my information he told me he did not think I had the disease. There was not much discussion afterwards. I was questioning some symptoms I experienced and really didn???t get much help there. Just a couple days before this I spoke with a cousin to find out both she and her mother, my aunt, had/have been on medication for hypothyroidism for decades. The Dr. ordered some blood work and he was gone. I am scheduled to see someone for results on January 5. I am not in search of a disease or in need for medications, just wanting to know what has been going on in the last six months.

The office seemed to be run very efficiently. I spent very little time waiting. The people at the front desk checked and assured me they had all of the paperwork I had sent to Dr. Cleland???s office previously, and the new patient paperwork I submitted. All that was needed was my insurance co-pay. I was referred to Dr. Cleland by my family physician. Dr. Cleland was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions. I had previously had an MRI at this same group of medical buildings, making up Baptist Medical South. Overall, I would give Baptist South a 10!

The office visit was alright and I was sent for bloodwork and promised a call back with the results Of course there was never a call backend the patient portal is a mess. I guess no news is good news but it would be very patient focused if somebody would routinely call back with results. This is a very deep problem with Baptist. Good doctors, and good treatment but there is poor communication. There is plenty of staff but they hide behind voice mail and you have to go after them for a call back. Voice mail is the ruin of good business and now health care relationships.

I couldn't understand the medical assistant who spent a half hour+ going over everything I had already submitted. When she was going through my meds (I handed her a 2 page document from my computer that lists meds, allergies and surgeries), she was not recording it accurately. I had to correct her on the amount of Vitamin D that I take, yet it was on the document I handed her (I take this document to every medical appt). I suggested that she scan the document into my record. She said no. The process leading up to an appt to get a Prolia injection is far to extended. I should be able to secure an appt for the injection first (to fit my work schedule), and then ok, I'll go for labs and see the doctor before the Prolia injection. But after I see the dr (before the appt for the injection is scheduled), someone in the office supposedly gets authorization for the Prolia. My Medicare plan does NOT require prior auth. I should be able to make an appt for the injection at the infusion center before all this takes place. As it is, I will be probably be getting my injection later than I would prefer (it's every 6 mos). I have a difficult time getting appts to fit my work schedule and that's why I wanted to make the prolia appt now. No dice. :-(

I had to call three times in order to receive an appointment as a new patient. I left two messages in one week that went unanswered. Finally, by calling and choosing the regular appointment selection, l was able to book an appointment. The day of my appointment, 8:15 am, I was the only patient in the waiting room, and yet I still waited an hour before I saw the doctor. The only saving grace, the doctor was pleasant, did not rush through the appointment and seemed genuinely interested in providing good treatment. Administration can and should do a better job, having to go through so much trouble just to get an appointment is disgraceful.

The office was very clean and the ladies upfront kindley reminded those that didn't have their mask on to please get one. I haven't felt that important at a physicians office in a long time. Thanks I think I will soon be on the right track.

my appointment was scheduled for 130pm, I was advised to show up 30 minutes prior as I was a new patient, which was fine, but I was not seen until 230pm. I do understand that sometimes things run behind, but waiting an hour past my appointment time shows a lack of respect for the patient's time, especially since no one even came in to tell me that the doctor was running behind, and then he didn't even apologize for being SO late, which I felt was inappropriate, leaving me frustrated.

Dr. Cleland did not listen to any of my concerns. He completely blew me off. He ordered one test, which according to him, was the end all be all. However, research has shown that this one test should NOT be used to rule out the disease I believe I am suffering from. I'm very surprised that an Endocrinology office doesn't have a convenient lab on site. When treatment depends on blood lab results, it would make sense to have a lab there for patients. Also, I have been treated by Endocrinologist in No. VA and they have ultra sound machines to test the thyroid.

Requested username and password for quest. When I told her I didn???t know she said she could go on with drs information.
