Vyshak Chandra, MD

Vyshak Chandra, MD, is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery and advanced treatments such as deep brain stimulation and focused ultrasound. His philosophy of care centers on listening first, building trust and tailoring treatment to each patient’s values, goals and lifestyle. Inspired early in life after witnessing family friends face serious neurological illness, Dr. Chandra remains dedicated to providing compassionate, expert care that treats the whole person, not just the condition. A native of St. Augustine, Florida, he is proud to return home and give back to the region that he grew up in. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the city and cheering on Duke Basketball, UF Gator Football, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. About Me

I grew up just 45 minutes south of Jacksonville in St. Augustine, Florida, and went to Nease High School—so it’s a special feeling to return to the area and serve a community that feels like home. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and discovering great local food spots. I'm also a big sports fan—you’ll often find me cheering on Duke Basketball, UF Gator Football, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Whether traveling or relaxing close to home, I value staying connected to the people and experiences that bring joy.

My philosophy of care is centered on treating the whole person—not just the condition. I believe in listening first, building trust, and creating care plans that reflect each patient’s values, goals, and lifestyle. My interest in neurosurgery began early, after witnessing close family friends navigate serious neurological illness. That experience showed me the profound difference compassionate, expert care can make—and continues to drive how I practice today.

I’m also passionate about expanding access to advanced and minimally invasive treatments, and helping patients feel informed and empowered in their care. I look forward to becoming involved in the Jacksonville community and giving back to the region that helped shape who I am.
