Well child visits help maintain your child’s health by tracking growth, development, and overall wellness. These visits include:

• Growth and development evaluation
• Physical exam with height, weight, and BMI
• Safety, nutrition, behavior, and school discussions
• Attention or learning concerns
• Screenings (vision, hearing, developmental, lab tests)
• Immunizations
• Updates on current illnesses affecting children
• Time to ask questions

Well Child Visit Examination Schedule

• 2-4 days after the baby is home
• 2 weeks
• 2 months
• 4 months
• 6 months
• 9 months
• 12 months
• 15 months
• 18 months
• 2 years
• 2½ years (30 months)
• Annually from 3 years to 18 years

If your child is experiencing symptoms from a serious medical emergency (such as seizures, shock, respiratory distress) or a traumatic injury (such as a motor vehicle or bicycle crash, poisoning, drowning), please call 911 immediately.

Please call our office to come in for a sick child visit if your child is experiencing any of the following symptoms:

• High and/or persistent fever
• Vomiting
• Widespread rash
• Rashes
• Diarrhea
• Any unusual symptom that lasts for more than three days in a row
• Persistent pain, such as stomachache, sore throat, headache, or an earache

At the end of the sick child visit, your child’s pediatrician will have identified the illness. Depending on the diagnosis, you will leave with either a prescription, dosage instructions, and/or instructions on how to relieve your child’s symptoms.

School Physicals

Our pediatricians track your child’s growth, development, and vaccinations in younger years, and focus on physical and psychological changes in adolescence. Teens also have the chance to ask about sensitive issues like substance use or mental health.

Sports Physicals

Required by many schools and leagues, sports physicals check vitals, joints, flexibility, and vision to help prevent injury. Schedule at least 6 weeks before the season starts. A sports physical does not replace an annual school physical.

Camp Physicals

Also called pre-participation physicals, these help ensure your child can safely enjoy camp activities. A camp physical should not replace a school physical.

Physicals Schedule

For Preschool Age Children (4-5 years old): All children need to have their 4/5 year old vaccines before starting kindergarten. Before starting 1st grade, most schools require the child’s first official physical exam.

For School Age Children (6-11 years old): After starting school, your child only needs a physical every two years.

For Teenagers (12-17 years old): All teenagers should have a yearly physical.
