From the Doctor
I believe the need to be heard and acknowledged is an innate part of human existence. I strive first to understand the individual and their concerns, then to provide guidance and support that is based on scientific knowledge and clinical expertise. Collaboratively, my patient and I identify desired outcomes and through discussion, facilitate insight, setting the foundation for more effective coping and greater confidence. Depending on the individual’s needs, therapy may involve elements of skill development, emotional release, acceptance, gaining clarity and understanding, forgiveness, developing a healthier perception of self and others, and identifying resources.
We all have a social responsibility for the well-being of our community. For most of my career I have worked with under-served populations. I also worked with community outreach programs and volunteered with the American Red Cross Disaster Services. I feel it is important to help others achieve a sense of balance and wholeness, and I plan to continue serving the needs of our community. I have also been responsible for providing clinical training and supervision for psychology interns at Northeast Florida State Hospital.
Originally from New York, I have also lived in South Florida and moved to Jacksonville in 1996. For recreation my wife and I enjoy nature, hiking, camping and photography.
